Math Fact Practice

Learning addition and subtraction facts fluently is so important in second grade! This means being able to figure them out without counting, using fingers, etc. The more students practice, the better they will become!

Two to three times a week students will do xtra math on the computers in school. It is a way to practice their math facts. Students have a certain amount of time to enter the correct sum or difference onto the computer. I sent home letters to each family with directions on how to sign up so students can practice at home. If you did not get this letter, please e-mail me (cypetzold@methuen.k12.ma.us). After ten to fifteen minutes, the program tells your child they are done for the day. It is another quick way to practice math facts in addition to the flash cards that are sent home every time your child passes a math fact quiz.
